God is Most Powerful

Lesson Title: God is The Most Powerful

Lesson Objective:
- To recall the story of Ashabul Feel
- To learn the Quranic vocabulary for elephant and birds
- To understand that Allah has power over everything
- To understand that even though We can not see Allah, we can feel His Power all around us

Quran Verse:
Innallaha 'ala kulli shayin qadeer
Indeed Allah has power over everything 35:1

Lesson Introduction:
Elephants are the largest and strongest land animals in the world. Yet from surah Feel, we learn that birds and tiny stones killed the massive elephants. It shows us that ‘Allah has power over everything.

Allah brings the sun up each day, He makes it rain and snow, Allah can move the heaviest mountain and the biggest sea! Allah is the one who gives power to the wind to blow.

In the Qur’an, Allah tells us to think about these things so that we can understand how Great He is!
Allah asks us, have you seen the birds soaring high above? Who is it that keeps the birds up in the sky? It is Allah, The Most Powerful that holds the birds up in the sky!

Air is invisible but you can feel it when it moves. We can’t see Allah but we know that He is there because of what we see and feel all around us.

Lesson Objective:
- To understand that even though we can not see Allah, we can feel His Power all around us.
- It is the Allah the Most Powerful that keeps the birds up in the sky

Quran Verse:
Allah has power over everything 35:1

Introduction:
In the Qur’an, Allah asks us, have you seen the birds soaring high above? Who is it that keeps the birds up in the sky? It is Allah, The Most Powerful that holds the birds up in the sky!

Activity:
Can you make aball float in mid air?
Hold up a ping pong ball or balloon (add a penny for weight) and watch it drop
The ball needs something powerful to hold it up
Blow a hairdryer on cool setting from beneath the ball and watch it float above!

The power of air helps keep the ball afloat in mid-air.
By itself the ball would fall, but the power of the air gives it strength to keep it from falling.

But who gives power to the air?! Allah is The All Powerful. It is Allah who is in control of everything and has power over everything. Allah is All Powerful, He keep the birds up in the sky!

Air is invisible, yet it can be felt. Allah too is invisible, yet we know He is there because of what we see and feel around us.

Quran Verse:
Indeed Allah has power over everything 35:1

Allah brings the sun up each day, He makes it rain and snow, Allah can move the heaviest mountain and the biggest sea! Allah is the one who gives power to the wind to blow.

Imagine, without wind, the clouds would not move, without clouds we would not have rain, without rain we would not have water. The All Powerful Allah controls everything!

Blow and watch the windmill spin or hold it in a windy place.Think about who gave the air power to move things? If the air is so powerful, what about Allah who created the air?! Allah is the Most Powerful!

Manners of the Prophet (saw)

Lesson Objectives:
- To understand that the Prophet was sent to teach us how to behave with the best manners as taught by Allah in the Qur’an.
- To know what good manners are and why we need them
- To become aware of and incorporate ‘bucket filling’ daily

Quran Verse:
Atiurasool, Follow the Prophet (SAW) 4:59

Lesson Introduction:
Allah has sent the prophet to us as an example and role model of who to copy and be like so that we can have the best of manners.

Good manners help everyone get along together. They make the world a better place to live because people start to think and care about others and not just themselves.

Based on the book Have you filled a bucket today?

Download/Print Bucket Labels
Imagine that everyone carries an invisible bucket. You feel happy and good when your bucket is full and sad when your bucket is empty.

When you say or do something kind to others, you fill their bucket with happiness and your bucket too! It feels great. When you do something wrong and have bad manners, you dip into the bucket and take out some of the good feelings. By upsetting people, we empty their bucket and our own. We both feel sad.
All day long, we are either filling up or dipping into each other’s buckets by what we say and do.

Prophet Muhammad was the best bucket filler! He taught and showed us why it’s so important to have good manners and to think of others. You feel good when you help others feel good. By being a bucket filler, you can make your home, your school and your world a better place.

Activity: Be A Bucket Filler
Make a craft bucket using a paper cup and decorate/label. You could also use a glass and pompoms to visually display the bucket filling concept. Each time child demonstrates good manners, praise and reinforce the bucket filling principle. When the bucket is full, reward if/as you wish.

Acts of Goodness: Continue the concept by encouraging other bucket filling activities. Eg acts of kindness for others, writing thank you notes, helping, picking litter, giving charity, giving compliments etc.

Smile :)

Lesson Objective: To implement in daily life a practice of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

One of the easiest ways to spread kindness is to smile!
The Holy Prophet always spoke with a smile. He said that smiling is charity!

Smile Experiment:
Put a pencil between the teeth not letting it touch the lips. Science shows that if you do this for 3 mins, you release hormones from the brain that make you feel good!

When you smile, you feel good. When others see you smile, they feel good too!
So smiling at someone is like giving them a gift by sharing your happiness.

Draw a large smiley face or use a smile balloon and place in a prominent place as a reminder to ‘Be like the Prophet’ and ask yourself 'have I made someone smile today?'

Manners Poem and Game

To the tune of Twinkle Little Star:
We say, "Thank you. We say, "Please."
We don't interrupt, We don't tease.
We don't argue. We don't fuss.
We listen when mum talks to us.
We share our toys, we take our turn
Good manners we must all learn.
