A Parent’s Dua Through the Beautiful Names of Allah

Quran Verse: …
"but I have never been disappointed in my prayer to You, my Lord!" 19:4

As our little ones grow older, there are moments when letting go feels harder than ever. After years of holding their hands, guiding their steps and trying to keep them safe, we reach a point where we have to loosen our grip and trust Allah more deeply.

Praying through the Asmaul Husna that speak to what you’re carrying can be such a comforting way to shape your conversation with Allah.

Ya Wakil to You I hand over all my worries. Strengthen my trust in You.

Ya Hakim I know that You have a plan and that You only do what is good.

Ya Raqib watch over my child. Protect him from harm and from situations that compromise his values.

Ya Hafidh preserve the goodness and teachings I have tried to instil in his heart.

Ya Khaliq help him recognise You as his Creator and know that his identity, worth and purpose are rooted in You.

Ya Haqq let him discern the truth in the decisions he makes.

Ya Aleem let him seek knowledge that will bring him benefit.

Ya Muʾmin safeguard and protect his faith.

Ya Salaam grant him peace in his relationship with You.

Ya Qawiyy strengthen him and make his belief firm.

Ya Quddus let his environment and that which he pursues be pure.

Ya Razzaq bring into his life that which will bring him closer to You.

Ya Wadood fill his heart with Your love and surround him with good friends who bring out the best in him.

Ya Fattah open only the doors that lead him to You.

Ya Qabid remove whatever makes practising the religion feel restrictive or difficult.

Ya Wasi expand his understanding so he can experience the freedom and ease it brings.

Ya Tawwab always keep him returning to You.

Ya Wahhab bless the days ahead with goodness and success.

Ya Sami listen to my cry.

Ya Khabir You know the weight my heart holds.

Ya Rahman fill me with kindness.

Ya Lateef make me gentle in the way I guide. Let my words carry wisdom, mercy and tenderness.

Ya Haleem, help me respond with calmness rather than reactivity.

Ya Sabur grant me patience with the process of his becoming.

Ya Hadi guide me to know when to speak, when to listen, when to step in and when to let go.

Ya Samad on You I fully depend.

Ya Mujeeb answer my duas, even those I cannot put into words.

Ya Ahad let Your pleasure always be our priority.

Ya Wakil I place him in Your care. Take charge of what I cannot control and let me trust You with the child You entrusted to me.
