The Best Words

Lesson Objectives:
- To know how we can remember Allah with our words
- To recap Quranic phrases of Dhikr and their usage
- To understand that words once spoken can't be taken back and so we must think before we speak

Quran Verse:

Udhkurullaha katheerun 8:45
Remember Allah Much!

Key Learning Point:

The tongue is an amazing blessing from Allah. Without it we wouldn’t be able to talk! We must thank Allah by using our tongue to speak the best words.

Using phrases like Bismillah and Alhamdulillah throughout the day, help us remember Allah.

When we use our words to cheer someone up and say kind things, our words make Allah happy. The words we speak become part of remembering Allah. Sometimes we say words that can be mean and hurtful. These words once spoken cannot be taken back.

We have to be really careful to stop and think before we speak. Are my words true, kind and helpful? Will my words make Allah happy?

Every Good Act Is Charity

Lesson Objectives:
- To learn the importance of charity, different forms of giving, the right intention, and its benefits.

Quran Verse:
Rush to do good 2:148
Fastabiqul khayraat

Key Learning Point:

Everyday we must share with others what Allah has given us. Allah loves those who do good, and He loves it even more when you rush to do good.
Every good deed is charity, even smiling :)
We must make sure our reason for doing the good deed is only for Allah and not show off to others, or moan while doing it. That would make our good deed go to waste.
Sharing what we have and giving charity is a blessing and Allah always rewards us with more than we give.

Charity Worksheet

Lesson Objectives:
- To understand the different forms of charity.

Lesson Introduction:
Charity or Sadaqah is a very important part of being a Muslim. Charity is not just giving money. Allah tells us that we must ‘spend out of what He has given.’ When we give in charity, we are sharing what Allah has given us.

Discuss what has Allah given us? How can we use each of our blessings to help those in need?.
Examples include using the car to give lifts, our strong bodies to help carry things, giving our time to visit the elderly who need our company or staying behind late at mosque to clear up.

Challenge: This Ramadhan, can you can give charity from each of the headings brainstormed on the worksheet?

Qur'an Verse:
Lillah, For Allah 6:162

Lesson Objective:
- To understand the importance of having the correct intention

Activity: The Right Intention
Have the children name some good deeds and pump air into a balloon. As the balloon is filled, emphasis the importance of having the right intention and doing every good deed only for Allah and secure the balloon with a peg. Role play scenarios like showing off and as you do so, release the peg and watch all the air escape. Use it as an analogy to explain how good deeds are wasted when we moan, show off etc.

Pop before it drops!

Lesson Objective:
- To understand that we must rush to do good deeds

Quran Verse:

Rush to do good 2:148
Fastabiqul khayraat

Lesson Introduction:
‘Allah loves those who do good’, but Allah loves it even more when we ‘‘fastabiqul khayraat’, rush to do good! Remember our whole life is like a competition. It’s a race where we must try to do as many good deeds as we can before our time is up and we are called back to Allah.

Activity: Pop before it drops!

Blow some bubbles and have the children pop them before they touch the ground!
Reinforce the lesson and practice the ayat, by reciting the Quranic verse first. Can they still make it?!

Be quick to pop the bubbles before on the ground they lay.
Rush and do good deeds before your chances go away!

Give A Little of Yourself

Give a little of yourself.
Cure your greed, purify your wealth.
Look around at where you live,
look at all the good you have to give.
Give a little of yourself.

There's a hand somewhere to hold, a mouth to feed.
There's so much that we can do for so many who are in need.
Give our time, give our wealth,
give our love, give ourselves
Know Allah sees each and every hidden deed.

Give a little of yourself.
Cure your greed, purify your wealth.
Look around at where you live,
look at all the good you have to give.
Give a little of yourself.

Take a look at all the people everywhere
who give with open hands and hearts that do what's fair.
Can you see the blessings fall
on believers one and all
who take the time to give, and know it's right to care

Give a little of yourself.
Cure your greed, purify your wealth.
Look around at where you live,
look at all the good you have to give
Give a little of yourself
