Allah Loves

Exploring the qualities which Allah loves, has been the focus of many of our early foundation lessons. From becoming a Muhsin and doing good deeds, to singing about keeping clean and being a Mutahireen, we've got it covered! We've followed in the footsteps of the Prophet (SAW), learnt about saying saying sorry like Yunus (as), strived to do our best like the busy bees, practiced our patience to be like the Sabireen, understood what being fair really means, and try to wear our taqwa everyday to protect our soul and be of the Mutaqeen.

Lessons, activities and Quran verses for each topic:

  • Allah loves those who are patient

Prophet Adam (as)

Learning Objective:
- To know that it is Allah who gives life.
- To know that Prophet Adam (as) was the first man created by Allah
- To understand that we have been created to be representatives of Allah on Earth

Qur'an verse:
laqad khalaqnal insaana fi ahsani taqweem
Indeed We have created the human being in the best of form 95:4

Prophet Adam (as) was the first human being created by Allah. Allah asked the angels to bring different types of clay from the earth. The clay was then mixed with water and left for a while. He then shaped it into the form of a man and left it to set. When it was strong He made the man come alive and it was Prophet Adam (as). As soon as he was alive, Prophet Adam (pbuh) sneezed and said: Alhamdulilah!

Allah told the Angels that he has created insaan, the human being, to be a khalifa, a representative of Allah on the Earth. What is a representative? What is their role? When you go on school trip, the teachers tell you to behave well as you are representing the school. Your uniform helps others to know where you are from and your behaviour tells them what your school is like.

How do we represent Allah? We behave with the manners of His Asmaul Husna.
We know Allah is Rahman and Rahim, so we too must be kind to everyone. We know He is Jawaad, generous, so we too much make sure we share whatever we have with others. We know Allah is As-Salaam, the one who gives peace and we too should make sure we act peacefully with everyone around us. We must let our manners shine so that people can see what an amazing God we have!

Activity: Allah is Al Muhyi, The Giver Of Life
Give each child some playdoh to make a model of themselves. Allah tells us in the Qur'an that He created insaan, human beings, from clay. What's the difference between our clay model and the one Allah made? Can you make it come alive? Allah moulded the body perfectly from clay and made it come alive. Allah is Al Muhyi, only He can give life

Activity: I Am God's Representative
Put a list of some of the Asmaul Husna in a box.
Have each child pick one out and describe ways in which they could act in accordance to the Ism.
Al-Alim: What can you do to increase your knowledge?
As-Sami: Who/what should you listen to, what things would you like Allah to hear you say?
Al-Baseer: What would you like Allah to see/not see you do?

Shaytan

Learning Objective:
- To understand who Shaytan is
- To understand his role in taking us away from Allah
- To understand how we can ask Allah to protect us from Shaytan

Qur'an verse:

Fa oos ta’idh billahi, min ash shaytaan ir rajeem 16:98
Ask for protection in Allah, from Shaytan, the one who has been thrown out!

Allah tells us about Shaytan in the Qur’an. His name was Azazeel and he was also known as Iblis. He used to pray a lot and was known by all the angels in Heaven.

When Allah made the first man, Prophet Adam (as), He asked the angels including Azazeel to do sajda to Adam (as). Iblis refused. He was proud and thought because he was made of fire, it made him better than Adam (as) who had been created from mud. Iblis did not listen and do what Allah said, He did not obey Allah. Iblis wanted to worship Allah as he wanted and not as Allah wanted!

Allah ordered him out of Heaven. Allah no longer called him Iblis but Shaytan, the one who is far away. Shaytan’s disobedience kept him far away from Allah. He bacame rajeem, thrown out and away from Allah's love and kindness.

Shaytan became very angry. He said he would do whatever he can to take people away from Allah. Allah told him that he would not have power over the people who believe in Allah. They would never follow and listen to Shaytan.

Allah warns us in the Qur’an about Shaytan and tells us that he is our enemy. Shaytan is always busy making plans on how to make you listen to him and not to Allah. He whispers bad thoughts into your heart and mind and tries to stops you from doing good deeds.

Allah has taught us in the Qur’an that when this happens, we must ask for His protection, by saying, 'Audhubillahi min ash shaytan ir rajeem, O Allah I ask for Your protection from Shaytan, the one who has been been throw out.’

The name Shaytan, tells you that he is someone far away from Allah. It reminds you that Shaytan's job is to take you far away from Allah too! But Allah is the Most Powerful and the Best Protector. If you remember Allah and ask for His help, then Shaytan can never win! The Power of Allah over Shaytan is greater than the power of Shaytan over you!

One of the specific times, Allah has taught us to say ‘Audhubillah’, is when we recite the Quran. Why do you think this could be?

Everytime we say ‘Audhubillah’, we are asking Allah to protect us from Shaytan so that he doesn’t make us do things which would take us far away from Allah. We do not want to be thrown out and away from Allah's love and kindness like he was!

Activity: Shaytan Extingisher!
Stay in wudhu as Shaytan is made of fire and water is a way of cooling fire down! If you can't do wudhu, recite Audhubillah over water and splash it on your face or on water before you drink it.
Label up a small travel bottle of water with the phrase and remind children to use it when they feel angry or distracted to do what is wrong.

Activity: A Protected Heart
One child holds a large cut out heart while the child on the rights 'whispers' aloud to him a wrong action to do. The child holding the heart shakes his head and says loudly 'audhubillah'. The heart is then passed on around the circle, while the neighbouring child tells him a 'bad whisper'.
