Learning Objective:

A hands on learning tool to use daily through the month of Ramadhan or even weekly through the year!

Activity: Ramadhan Board

Choose to select different categories depending on the age of the child. Print and cut out the cards to be placed into each envelope. Pick from the envelopes each day to learn about Allah and the Quran, build a habit of talking to God through conversation starters, remember to thank Him with gratitude prompts and include others in your duas with names of the family and countries of the world.

Dua Kumayl

Quran Verse:
In it every single affair is made clear Surah Dukhan 44:4

Learning Objective:
- Gain an introduction into Dua Kumayl recommended to be recited on 15th Sha'ban

Kumayl Ibn Ziyad was a companion of Imam Ali (as). Kumayl reports that he was sitting with Imam Ali (a) in Masjid Kufa with a group of companions on the night of 15th Sha'ban and one of them asked Imam if he could explain to them the Quran verse from Surah Dukhan, 44:4 "In it every single affair is made clear."

Imam Ali (a) said that this was the 15th of Sha'ban and explained that on this night every good and bad that will reach him in the year will be divided and handed. 15th Sha'ban is when preparation begins for Laylatul Qadr in the month of Ramadhan. Imam Ali (a) continued that the one who stays up at night and recites Dua of Khizr on 15th Sha'ban will have all his duas answered.

Kumayl asked Imam Ali (a) what is the dua of Khizr? Imam Ali (a) told him that he would teach it to him and entrust him with it. The dua became known as Dua Kumayl.

Dua Kumayl is also one of the duas recommended to be recited every Thurday. When recited with understanding and application, Dua Kumayl has the power to transform you!

Activity: the Isms of the Dua
Read the first paragraph of Dua Kumayl. Notice how we start the dua by asking Allah through His beautiful names. How does the first Ism, "I ask You by Your Mercy", compare to the next few qualities that are used? Strength, Invincibility, Might, Tremendousness, Force - Which umbrella quality do they all fall under? Reflect on what this means to you. Can you find the corresponding Isms in Arabic?

All of creation is in need of asking Allah. Look at the Mercy of Allah all around us and our own helplessness. Our wealth or status may give us the illusion of being powerful but human power provides no protection from harm if Allah wills it - just look at Covid 19! It shows us how powerless we are and how true Power belongs only to Allah.

Activity: Asking for Forgiveness

To highlight five phrases in the first section which identify different sins in Dua Kumayl. Ponder on these lines and the consequences of the stated actions as you ask for forgiveness.

O Allah, forgive me for those of my sins which tear apart the parts of me that want to do good!

Gossip, Engaging in idle, vain/useless talk

O Allah, forgive me for those sins which bring down calamities!

Not helping the oppressed

O Allah, forgive me for those sins which alter blessings!

Being ungrateful

O Allah forgive me for those sins which stop my duas being answered!
Delaying Salaa, Violating duty to parents, Doing things without faith.

O Allah, forgive me for every sin I have committed and for every mistake I have made!

Envelope Prayer Book

Opened up book complete with inserts

Learning Objective:
- To make a compact folding dua book which includes insert reminders of who to pray for.
- To provide a portable prayer wall which can be used throughout the year.

This activity can be used as an extension after having explored the prayer hand and the teaspoon prayers.

Activity:
1. Line up and stick three envelopes together onto their flaps and cut off the last opening.
2. Label up each of the envelopes as separate prayer titles.
3. Turn over the open envelope book and label up another two prayer sections. These will not have an insert opening but can be written on. Decorate a front cover on the third space.
4. Place corresponding inserts into each opening.

Reverse labels: Praise, Thanks, Front cover.

Folded Envelope Book

The World
Attach a fold out world map. Place a list of countries to pray for and some dot stickers to mark them off inside the envelope.

People to pray for
- Write the names of family and friends onto a body outline.
- Stick a plaster onto a card as a reminder to pray for the sick

My Duas
- Make up a small booklet on which personal duas can be written
- Mark a chalkboard label with the word sorry as a reminder to ask Allah to wipe away what wrong we have done.

Heal the World

Learning Objective:
Help children become aware that there are people all over the world who do not live as comfortably as we do. It is important to remember them in our prayers. 

Lay out a large world map on the floor. Give each child a plaster and have them plqce it onto a country of their choice, ideally have one on each continent. Hand out various objects to represent food, water, homes, family, sickness and education. Have each child place the item on the map by their plaster and make dua asking Allah to provide the people of the country for the need represented.

Learning Objective:- Help children to build a feeling of unity and become aware of the responsibly to pray for people all over the world.

The Prophet (SAW) has taught us "The Muslim world is like one body. If the eye is in pain then the whole body is in pain and if the head is in pain then the whole body is in pain.” If we hear that any part of the world is suffering, then we too should feel this pain.

Activity: People of the World 
Learn about a country that may have been mentioned in the news. Identify it's flag and pray for its safety. Mark it on a map or make a display of the flags of countries prayed for. You could also use a scratch map to pray for and scratch off a different country every day. A complete list of 30 countries can be found below.
